A Dromana resident's invention may soon be improving the golf game of players around the world.

When James Shreenan was unhappy with his golf game, the now retired toolmaker invented a pair of glasses to help him hit that hole in one. "Spot On Golf Glasses" use holes in tinted lenses to help users keep their eye on the ball.

"The best golfer in the world is the one who moves his head least," Mr Shreenan said.

Mr Shreenan and his invention were recently featured in an episode of ABC program The New Inventors.

He has since been flooded with orders and at least three business enquiries about the product, including one from the Australian Institute of Sport. Mr Shreenan patented the design in 1994, but had given up on the possibility of it being produced.

"I had long given up and said 'this is hopeless'," he said.

But his application to The New Inventors saw the show respond within days and travel to Dromana to film him for the program.

Mr Shreenan hopes his "Spot On Golf Glasses" will be a success, both in Australia and overseas.

"I'd like to see them made and distributed as an Australian invention," he said.
